Friday Stuph a Day Late-4/25/2026

Oops! Missed it by ONE Day

It’s Saturday. Yeah, I missed Friday Stuph. I haven’t been feeling well. Actually, I feel like a bag of warmed over dog shit. Don’t know if it’s allergy or some other kind of Cootie. Oh, well.

So here I am on Saturday.

Last week was interesting. Had appointments with 2 cardiologists. One an electrician who is caring for my arrhythmia. The other my plumber who keeps watch over my arteries and who put in 2 stents a bunch of years ago. It’s sad when you need 2 specialists to keep tab on 1 organ. Oh, well.

There has been that continued ‘excursion’ into Iran. No one knows what’s happening, why there’s a war, nor how to end whatever it is. Chaos seems to be the main objective. Pay no attention to the Epstein Files behind the curtain! Look! Squirrel! I have tried to remain outside of the political crap that’s become the norm for this country. And I pray for God’s mercy on Donald every day. No, really, I do. But the total lack of self-awareness and empathy has pushed me to the brink. Jesus said that the rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous. Both are seen and acknowledged in God’s eyes. They should be in ours as well. Jesus said that those who follow him are to consider themselves in the world, not of the world. That we are truly citizens of His community, not the community of solely earthly concerns. With this perspective it’s possible to see people like Donald as truly poor and needy individuals. They are hollow. They have nothing within that aligns them to humanity. While that makes it proper not to hate such people, it makes it impossible to not intercede for them. At the same time, I must call out their perversion and fear when I see it. Especially for those who lead. Donald is not good. The people that he has assembled around him are not good. To not call that out would also not be good. Freedom cannot be found by putting trust in any person or group of persons or political party. It’s just not there. My voice will be heard in defense of humanity wherever it is attacked. Right now, the humanity of the U.S. is under attack from within.

I’ve been spending a lot of time reading and studying theology. That’s a change for me. I’m usually a Biblical studies person. I’m learning many things that I may write about some other time. The thing that is striking to me now is how little theological writing is actually about the Theo part of the word. Many of these scholars seem more interested in the arguments than in the substance of who God is or how God relates to Godself and to others. I know that I said somewhere that one of my favorite spectator sports is watching scholars argue with each other. Theologians are even more caught up with their own thoughts than the Biblical scholars that I read. That’s not a good thing. Oh, well.

I think that’s all I have time for today. I hear a nap calling my name.
